Eps 68: How To Earn The Income You Truly Deserve

Picture this; every day you’re doing what you love, having more time for yourself and being paid more than what you did at your 9-5.

Sounds almost too good to be true, right?

I promise you it’s not.

This week’s podcast is about how as entrepreneurs, we make the move into a space where we have the financial and time freedom we desire.

Instead of being tied up in the day to day operations of our business at the risk of losing our spark, or our passion.

I know what you’re thinking, you’ve heard it all before right?

Well, in this week’s podcast my guest, Debbie Arcangeles has survived losing her passion and her why (and ultimately her business), to left without any income at all.

So she’s been there, done that and got the badge to show for it.

Naturally she spent time reflecting on her mistakes, and reassessing what she truly valued in life.

Debbie began focussing entirely on projects that brought her joy and aligned with her values.

And then the income came.

And it kept coming when she diversified those income streams.

Soon after, The Offbeat Life was born, Debbie’s podcast that inspires entrepreneurs and digital nomads to monetize their hobbies and diversify their income all while working from anywhere in the world.

Listen in to this episode for the exact steps you need to take, to start bringing in the revenue you truly deserve!

In this Episode You’ll Learn:

  • How to turn your hobby into a profitable business

Choosing the Right Revenue Streams to Get Paid To Be You

I’m a firm believer that if you know how to package your unique talents, skills and knowledge you can get paid to be you in more ways than you can imagine!

I also know this to be true as not only have I had up to 9 revenue streams in my business built around me, I’ve worked with and interviewed hundreds of others doing the same.

What’s crazy is the variety of ways in which people have built multiple revenue streams and in all sorts of industries and niches. Sometimes the mind boggles at what’s possible!

In Chapter 6 of my book, The Freedom Plan, I wrote about the key ways to help you identify your best path to monetization.

I then backed this up with over 10 awesome case studies, with people just like you and I, who are earning a great living leveraging their sweetspot and turning it into multiple revenue streams.

To celebrate the release of my audiobook later this month here’s my GIFT to you 🎁 – an early release of some of the juicy goodness contained within that chapter in this podcast episode.

Why money alone won’t bring you happiness

Money. We all want more of it, but do we want it for the wrong reasons? Does money really bring you happiness?

Security, stability and the ability to get yourself of a crisis or look after your health are all great reasons to want to have sufficient funds in your bank account.

Yet research has shown that once you’re making around $70,000 a year, anything over and beyond that won’t bring you more happiness.

Money can certainly help you reduce stress but it doesn’t guarantee fulfillment.

Over the last eight years of running my business, I’ve noticed that when I’ve had just a little bit more money than I really need, I often felt at my happiest.

Despite the fact that I still wasn’t earning a lot, I was earning enough. Enough to buy my friend a drink or dinner, to get a gift for my family and to treat myself to an experience that felt special, but not frivolous.

And because I was living out of a suitcase for close to seven years I never felt the need to buy things, just experiences. So instead I saved my hard earned revenue.

Now that I feel financially free, I’ve put my money towards investing my own growth, in my business (mainly through new team members), property and more recently in others’ companies as an investor and advisor.

I still feel most happy when I have money to give and to spend on others, but not enough money to feel totally comfortable and as if I could afford everything. That would make life rather dull in my opinion!

In this episode I share:

  • How to get out of bad spending habits
  • The things that will actually make you most happy
  • Why minimalism can increase your financial freedom and happiness
  • The dangers of comparing yourself to others

Starting an Ecommerce Site From Scratch

One of the best way to have more financial freedom is to add in an extra revenue stream or two.

Preferably a passive or residual income stream that you don’t have to pay constant attention to, and that pay you a nice lump sum each month once you’ve set it up.

This can be real estate, investments, digital products and affiliate commissions.

It can also be the world of Ecommerce if you’re prepared to invest in it initially.

That’ why I’m diving into the world of Ecommerce to see if I can add an extra $5,000 revenue in 3 months!

And I figured you may be interested in doing the same for yourself, so I’m going to run my next LIVE Freedom Lab as a behind the scenes of starting an Ecommerce site from scratch.

In this episode I talked about:

  • The new business I’m starting related to my gorgeous puppies.
  • My Ecommerce marketing strategy
  • The next Freedom Lab that I’ll be running this March 2018
