Eps 66: How You Can Set Yourself Free and Become Unstoppable

Without even knowing it, deep inside us we all have (in one form or another) trauma. This might sound scary or even untrue for you, right?

I don’t mean though, that you necessarily have had a deeply distressing or disturbing experience in life, because for some that’s not the case.

Trauma, for each of us looks different. For myself I have always been amazed at strong, brave entrepreneurs that have overcome this huge event in their life, to go on and achieve great success in business and beyond.

But what about those of us who have had relatively ‘normal’ childhoods, that have also gone on to achieve our own success.

Often without even realising it, those that fit into this category will have at some point experienced trauma, that can be found at the root cause of our own inner critic, or the voice behind our imposter syndrome.

For Mia Hewett it wasn’t until she was in her thirties (with a multi-million dollar business and family of her own under her belt already), when she found herself struggling under the weight of imposter syndrome, and an overwhelming sense of just not being good enough.

Naturally she invested in herself through various forms of personal development, committing thousands of dollars to the cause, with no real solution, or A-ha! moment.

It was only then she realised the solution wasn’t outside of herself, but within. She had been working on her mind, instead of healing the emotional side of herself.

If we don’t heal the emotional side of ourselves, we limit our intellect because we can’t think greater than how we feel.

Mia has helped hundred of entrepreneurs who have always known they are meant for more, but found themselves in a position not too dissimilar to her own, all those years ago, through her methodology ‘Aligned Intelligence’.

Mia shared all of her secrets in her new book ‘Meant for More’ so that entrepreneurs like us no longer have to struggle against that constant internal battle, and can be the Unstoppable Entrepreneurs that we are!

I don’t want to reveal all of the goodness in our amazing conversation, so make sure you listen into the podcast!

In this Episode You’ll Learn:

  • Why we all have trauma from our childhood that needs healing
  • How you can set yourself free to be 100% unstoppable
  • How you can solve the fear of imposter syndrome
  • How you can no longer fear people’s judgments and failure
  • How you can eliminate the fear of success
  • What you can do to stop being a prisoner of your own mental chatter

Eps 63: Develop Your Mindset to Leverage Your Entrepreneurial Strengths

It goes without saying that strategy is essential in business and in life, but did you know that your mindset is the single biggest defining factor for your success as an entrepreneur?

When you’re starting out in business, it’s already tough enough just to figure it all out, but your mindset is often the tipping point as to whether your business will reach its full potential.

If you want to succeed in business, it’s up to you as the leader to accelerate your own development by working on your mindset.

If you aren’t prepared to challenge your mindset then you won’t make it.

Sure it’s exhausting knowing that since mindset is key, it requires constant work, but it is the ONE thing you have the most control over, so you need to use it to your advantage!

Your brain employs a number of subconscious processes, which have to be surfaced if you want to become the best version of yourself.

Part of that process is about facing your fears and as an entrepreneur, overcoming that instinctive ‘fight or flight’ mode.

Enter Joe Trodden, Mindset Coach, who’s guided over 300 entrepreneurs over the last 9 years to work on overcoming the many mindset challenges we entrepreneurs face, on a daily basis.

They come to Joe to work on the next level of their strategy growth and to develop their mindset to become effective entrepreneurial leaders, and perhaps for his great Scottish accent!

Joe’s work is about linking the neuroscience of mindset development to practical actions that are designed to challenge the blockers we face, and enabling us entrepreneurs to work through defined stages of levelling ourselves up.

In this Episode You’ll Learn:

  • How to navigate through your existing mind blocks through each stage of your entrepreneurial journey
  • How to face your fears and overcome fight or flight mode
  • How to uncover and discover your superpower
  • How to improve your odds by making the right decisions

How to Discover a Whole New Life with Lucia Gionvannini

Are you at a point in your life where you’re really not feeling it?

The career you’ve chosen and the business you have is not as fulfilling as you wanted. Yet maybe to the outside world, it looks like you’ve got it all together. But inside, you’re feeling like there’s a deeper calling that you’re not paying attention to.

Everything is pointing you towards actually doing that by tapping into your calling and making a bigger impact in the world.

On this episode of Untapped, I got to chat with the charming Lucia Giovannini and learned how she tapped into her true calling and discovered a whole new life.

Lucia Giovannini is a yogi, life coach, fire-walking instructor and former Italian super-model.

Lucia started modeling by accident quickly realizing that career was bringing her all a girl could hope for, yet it still left her feeling unfulfilled. So after several years, she went on her own healing journey. It was back in the 80-s when she’d get other models to sit with her in a dressing room, chanting “Om”.

Lucia went within, going barefoot for a year, and immersing herself into healing practices. One of the first transformational speakers in Italy, she was soon regarded as the “Louise Hay of Italy”. Her book “A Whole New Life” sold thousands of copies around Europe and was translated into 8 languages.

She’s someone who has had a very successful career but decided to take the leap and embrace her true calling to embark on a whole new life. Definitely something I can relate to!

In this episode you’ll learn:

  • The tools that can help you remove the barriers that are stopping you from following your true calling
  • Lucia’s thoughts on making radical changes in your life
  • What tangible steps you can take to transform your thoughts and beliefs
  • Lucia’s advice on how to discover a whole new life

7 Lessons I’ve Learned from Finding My Next Finish Line

Recently I had the honour of being invited to go and speak in front of around 80 to 90 Ultimate Frisbee players, who were trying out to be selected for the New Zealand teams for the World Championships in Netherlands next year.

For those of you who don’t know, I have been an Ultimate Frisbee player for the last 16 years. It’s been a long held passion of mine and it was really neat to be asked to come and speak at this  training camp about finding your finish line, which is a big tribute to Nathan Martin, my triathlon coach from this podcast we did.

The talk I gave was specifically related to being your best self, pushing yourself, challenging yourself, crushing your goals and setting intentions that keep you motivated.

I decided you may need to hear this too, so I’ve recreated it here for you both as a full blog post and an episode on my Untapped Podcast.

Choose Your Attitude with Debra Searle

Do you wake up some mornings on the wrong side of the bed, and then the rest of the day proceeds to go to custard?

Do you ever wish that you could instead, choose your attitude and have the best day ever?

There’s a rather special person I know who has mastered this more than anyone else I’ve ever met and thankfully she is always sharing the simple yet powerful ways in which we can take charge of our own life and attitude.

Debra Searle is a unique and inspiring individual who is truly tapping into her potential.

Debra first hit the headlines when she and her husband set out to row across the Atlantic. Unfortunately, her husband and rowing partner had to be rescued within just days of setting off.

Debra continued on alone and rowed 3000 miles across the Atlantic single-handedly!

It should have taken them 6 weeks but, to achieve her goal, Debra ended up spending 3 ½ months at sea alone. During that time she had to dig deep to endure this arduous crossing and it’s here where she developed the tools and mindset to be able to deal with pretty much anything life threw at her.

She also lead a group of women (which included me!) known as The Sisterhood to a new World Record for Dragon Boating across the English Channel in 2007.

This particular adventure created huge media interest in the UK due to a rather famous teammate – Kate Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge.

She achieved a first class honours degree, has launched four companies, won Gold World Championship medals for Great Britain, presented over 40 programmes for the BBC, had two books published and became the youngest ever trustee of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Her Majesty The Queen has recognised Debra on two occasions – in 2002 with an MBE and in 2014 with an MVO. She has spoken at over 1000 events across 38 countries.

This 2019 Debra will be making frequent trips to Hollywood as the movie telling the story of her Atlantic row is currently in development.

I am inspired and I hope you are too!Read more

Trying to Solve the Wrong Problem?

Could you be attempting to solve the wrong problem when it’s actually really your mindset that’s needing to be transformed?

Have you tried to change your habits or worked harder to improve your business and life? And then you get to the point where you ask yourself, “Why is this still not working?”.

It’s not technically because you are doing the wrong thing.

It’s not about the actions that you are doing or not doing that’s making the difference.

It’s actually what’s happening in your mind that’s actually the biggest challenge you have that needs to be solved.

My friend Osmaan Sharif is back in Season 5 of Quest for Freedom to continue our talk about Mindset Freedom.

We discuss the Rapid Transformation Formula, solving the right problem and his top tips to shift your mindset when your mindset is holding you back.

Of course it takes courage to shine the spotlight onto YOU.  But when you get to the root of the real challenges you may be facing, then positive & long-lasting  transformations for your business and life can truly happen!

How to Stop Comparison-itis

We all do it. We all suffer from Comparison-itis, and in doing so, sabotage ourselves in the process.

Your aim in life should be to be the very best version of yourself. So why do we all consistently compare ourselves against others?

Why do we look at people who are 3, 5 or even 10 years ahead of us in business and in life and get completely dejected that ‘we’re not there yet’ or that we pale in comparison.

That’s like comparing yourself with Richard Branson and his current empire worth billions, instead of the Richard Branson in college trying to make a magazine come to life and getting loans from his Mum.

You will always come up ridiculously short.

And that’s just a game for losers to play, and you’re a winner, so I suggest you stop that now.

You can’t even begin to know what’s behind their journey, what it took for them to get to where they are now. But you can learn from them, and emulate the great things they do, so long as you don’t try to measure up against them.

Nothing compares to you. You just focus on being your best self.

It doesn’t help that we’re constantly bombarded with ‘overnight success’ stories and internet millionaires making money in their sleep.

I know it can seem like everybody is doing better at everything than you. But they’re not.

In fact often it’s far from the truth, they’re just good at marketing or spinning out the right stuff.

I’d like you to stop this destructive habit of comparison-itis and instead concentrate on where you’re at and what you’ve achieved.

That’s why in this podcast I’ve brought in the heavies, well the heavyweight expert in getting rid of limiting beliefs, stopping your comparison-itis syndrome and shifting your mindset.

My friend Osmaan Sharif is a Performance Coach at Rapid Transformation and he specializes in unlocking your entrepreneurial superpowers and transforming your mindset blocks.

Since Season 5 of Quest for Freedom is all about Mindset Freedom I decided to bring him on to discuss how we can make 2018 our best year ever by doing one thing.

Working on our ‘inner game’.

We discuss how to stop comparing yourself to others, why that’s destructive and two things you can do instead to focus on being your best self.
